ABOUT PEACOCK SPRING
The state park was renamed to Wes Skiles State park to honor the late world class explorer in 2010. Wes was also a renowned photographer who loved diving and exploring the waterways. Peacock Springs has two major springs and 6 sinkholes. Peacock Springs is famous for its extensive underwater cave system and in order to scuba, you must be certified. Depths vary between 18 and 60 ft deep, and turns into a cave dive once you enter the area. A big cavern opening welcomes you at about 40 ft and continues down to 110 ft. If you continue to 52 ft, you’ll notice the cave entrance which takes you through 28,000 ft of passage way – any exploring passed this is not advised unless you are a certified diver.
