ABOUT DE LEON SPRINGS
This spring has been utilized since the early 1800’s serving as a sugar mill and it was powered by the strong water flow. Believe it or not, the mill was actually burned down twice by confederate soldiers during the civil war. This waterway has been named ‘healing waters’ by the early Mayca Indians who created homes here. While the basin is about 100 yards wide, depths range between 18 in to 30 ft at the spring boil. Water temperatures remain 72 degrees all year long – you’ll need to get here early on hot summer days, as this place is a known favorite!
